West Bengal alone has suffered a financial loss of about Rs 15,000 crore due to cyclone Yaas, the state chief minister has claimed.
134 dams in the state have flooded 2,000 villages in 14 districts and destroyed more than 3 lakh houses. 5 people died. The floods destroyed 40,000 hectares of cropland, 6,000 water bodies and damaged 1,800 kilometers of roads.
108 NDRF teams are working in the affected areas of Odisha and West Bengal. Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the affected areas at noon. The two leaders later met.
